THE STORM
Being a skier requires inner strength, overcoming extreme cold and wind conditions, overcoming fatigue and continuing to move forward. But the worst storm I experienced was not in the mountains but in real life. At 31 years old, an engineer by profession and a ski enthusiast, I faced a brain tumor that almost ended my life.
I am Juan Martínez Núñez, founder of Reforcer.
BACK TO THE FIGHT
When all seemed lost and hope was minimal, I drew on all the strength I had left and managed to continue living life to the fullest.
I was living in Portugal, with a successful career and plans for the future, when the disease appeared without warning. Doctors found a brain tumor the size of a golf ball. Three surgeries saved my life, but I lost almost everything: work, relationship, plans and mobility. Despite the serious physical consequences, such as loss of balance, my skier’s spirit prevailed to fight. After years of rehabilitation and against all medical odds, I returned to skiing, descending from the top of Baciver.

My life became a succession of challenges, a great mountain to climb, overcoming difficulties. Reforcer’s slogan, “Climb Your Mountain”, symbolizes the personal struggle that we all face. Regardless of the circumstances, there is always a “mountain” to overcome. Reforcer represents the desire to excel, the passion for skiing and the strength to face any challenge.
Seeing skiers wearing our high-end Reforcer clothing, enjoying sport and the mountains, is a great reward for my desire for personal and professional improvement.
