THE STORM
This sport exposes you to extreme conditions of cold and wind, it requires you to overcome fatigue and keep moving forward. But the worst storm I did not experience in the mountains but in real life when I, (Juan Martínez Núñez), suffered a brain tumor and serious sequelae after the surgeries that I was able to face with a sporting attitude.
The doctors dissuaded me from the idea of going back to skiing since the effects of the surgeries left important sequels, however, by strengthening my abilities, I was able to go back to skiing and recover my aspirations.
BACK TO THE FIGHT
I couldn’t imagine a life without skiing again and most importantly, without feeling alive with new projects and plans for the future. The goals were short. It took me four months of rehabilitation to walk and regain my balance. Later, little by little, I recovered a large part of the vision in one eye and with medical help I was able to mobilize the muscles of my face again. With time, perseverance, attitude and patience I overcame the storm.
